Owen's Future Alma Mater!

"Wow, you're brave!" This was the general response when I told people that I was going on a road trip to Kansas with just Owen and myself. And believe me...I wondered if they were right. You just can't predict how a ten month old is going to behave on an eight hour car ride. But let me tell you, he did amazing! We of course had a few tough moments, but a diaper change or graham cracker always seemed to do the trick! We only had to make 3 or 4 stops on the way there and the same on the way back. I was pretty impressed. I honestly don't know if I could handle being strapped into a carseat for that long!

I'm so glad we made the trip though! We had such a wonderful time...and boy had I missed my girls, Lawrence, and KU. The first night Raven took me to a new burger place in Lawrence. It was soooo yummy. Since we had Owen with us we pretty much had a low key weekend...which was perfect. I got to have breakfast at First Watch (best breakfast ever!), walk down Mass St. and do some shopping, walk around campus and reminisce, and just spend time with Raven.

It was so nice to be back on campus. I hadn't realized just how much I missed it until I went back. Its so weird to think that college was only a few short years ago. It seems like a life time! Jen drove in form KC on Sunday and we had lunch at the new Oread Hotel. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, since it replaced the Crossing and all...but it was incredible! It is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen. It fits into the campus architecture perfectly!

I can't wait to take Owen back when he can truly experience how awesome the campus and the town are! I'm thinking a yearly football and basketball trip will be much needed!
